What Are Effects Of Pityriasis During Pregnancy?

My daughter has had pityriasis for approx. 4-5 weeks and just found out she is pregnant. We are both nurses and read everything so I am concerned about the increased possibility of miscarriage and effects on pregnancy and having a healthy baby. What are the effects of this condition during pregnancy?

Hi,
Pitiriasis is a self limiting skin condition , common in pregnancy. If the infection is within first 15 weeks of pregnancy.. there are possibilities of miscarriage. Possible cause of abortion & fetal malformations not yet been confirmed. It needs only symptomatic treatment.
So it's better to be in contact with dermatologist/ gynecologist for advise if you have pitiriasis. Repeated pregnancy evaluations with USG scans/ chromosomal analysis/ special blood tests for possible problem should be done according to expert advise.
Thanks.
