What Are He Chances Of Having A Healthy Baby In A Diabetic?
My daughter is 30. She has type 1 diabetes She is 5' 3" and is around 170 lbs. She is pregnant and at 34 weeks her water broke. She is in bed rest at the hospital. The baby is at a little over 5 lbs. Drs. r giving her all the meds. she needs. What r her chances of having a healthy baby? They will induce her if her fluids become lower. If she doesn't deliver within 5 days, they will induce her.
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Pregnancy in diabetes mellitus is a high risk situation.Delivery at 34-35 weeks of pregnancy is preterm delivery and neonate can suffer from the complications of prematurity like neonatal respiratory distress, necrotizing enterocolitis, so she should deliver at a place where neonatal resuscitation and NICU are present. Blood sugar monitoring of neonate should be done to detect hypoglycemia at the earliest. Hope you found the answer helpful. Wishing you good health. Dr Deepti Verma
