What Are Loss Of Vision For A Short Time And Extreme Vertigo Suggestive Of?
My mother is 86. I am responsible for seeing to her care. Tw sho weeks ago the bent down to wipe something off the floor and stood up totally blind. She was right by her sofa so laid down, rested and her sight returned in a few minutes. Yesterday for the first time in her life she experienced terrible vertigo. Was so sick she vomited several times. I have begged her to see her doctor and she said no, I m not going through a series of medical tests. Several years ago she had something called a TIA WHILE living in Fl. The fear of that coaxed her to move back close to family. I can t physically drag her to her doctor but did call the doctor to inform her what was going on. In your opinion, what could be going on and did I do the right thing Re: alerting her Dr. Unbeknown to her doctor?
Sudden vertigo with loss of vision at the age of 86 indicates, most likely cerebrovascular accident as cortical ischemia or others. She needs an ER visit to look into the matter for the MRI brain and supportive care immediately, otherwise it may damage rest of the vital functions of the brain and body as well. Kindly discuss the need of same with her and do accordingly. If she does not want to show up at emergency, its totally her decision to proceed with patient rights.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
