What Are Nodules In Thyroid And Blood In Saliva Suggestive Of?
Hi. I m 34yr old male. I m having a large nodule on my right and small on the right thyroid. Been to Tata memorial hospital mumbai but it wasn t a cancerous one. On the other hand I have blood on my saliva. Lately more and more blood are coming out. Pl help me
I can understand your concern. There is no association between your having benign thyroid nodules and blood in saliva. The blood you found in saliva might be coming from the gums that may have been inflamed due to plaque and calculus build up in absence of regular dental check us and inadequate oral hygiene.
I would advise you to visit your dentist for oral prophylaxis or scaling which will mechanically remove the plaque and calculus affecting the gums and will bring the gums back to better health. In addition, I would advise you to use a gum paint (Gumex) to massage the gums 10 minutes every day whenever you find time in your routine. Brushing twice a day and using mouthwash in addition to half yearly visits to the dentist will help you to prevent such problems in future.
In addition, if you feel that the blood is not coming from gums in saliva and it is coming from throat, then you should visit the ENT surgeon for consultation and further investigations and treatment.
I hope this answer helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. Take care.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
