Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mother escaped from Syria and lives in Turkey. She went to a doctor there. After her head was scanned, she was given Nootropil 800 mg & Betaserc 16 mg. She could not understand from the doctor what was wrong with her due to the language barrier. After she took the medications, she got bad back pain and a swollen colon. She is also having difficulty urinating. Can anyone tell us what these pills are for? Thank you very much.
Nootropil is the trade name for a drug called piracetam. It is used to control twitching and jerking of the muscles. Betaserc is used for vertigo and tinnitus (abnormal noises in the ear such as buzzing, ringing).
It is possible there are physicians in the area that may be able to understand your mother, alternatively, is she can locate an interpreter it would be good.
I hope this helps
