What Are Possible Side Effects Of Abruptly Stopping Naproxen?
I fractured 4 ribs 5 weeks ago, Was prescribed Naproxen 500 mg 3 weeks after first injury. Over the next few days developed SOB on exertion. At rest developed SOB with wheezing. Also started a chest cough, I have also developed frequent urination with urgency despite taking Detrol 2 times a day. I have a few other symptoms as well. Is there any reason I should stop taking Naproxen immediately. are there adverse reactions for halting this drug? Thank you
The Naproxen is a class of NSAID (Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) , used for various painful situations by many clinicians with best results. The stoppage of Naproxen or withdrawal in other words, do present with increase in amount of pain and inflammation, but not other features. The issue of chest cough, frequent urination are not part of withdrawal effects of the Naproxen for sure. Kindly discuss the same with your treating doc for getting further guidelines of management.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
