I have been having pain in my left arm for about a month ....in the upper arm, bicep, triceps,... even had the massage therapist work on it a bit, thinking it was sore muscles. It kind of came and went, not continuous. But as of a little more than a week ago, it has been with me in the entire arm ...sometimes up into the shoulder as well as the tri and biceps, and also the forearm just below the elbow bend On the front of the arm mostly, and also down closer to the wrist. Went to the doc on Friday ....he did several resistance things with me to see how the arm would react...ended by ordering an ultrasound of my arms...just in case I might have a blood clot. I am on warfarin for my afib, though so he thought that would be unusual. The technician told me she saw nothing, so she called the doc s office and I was told the test was negative. I knew that the test was to be sent to a vascular doc to give his interpretation of the test. So I called my doc s office today and asked them if they had an official result to report to me. I also let them know that I still have pain in the arm and am wondering what the doc might suggest. He had prescribed some Voltaren gel to put on it. I had an unused, but about 3 or 4 year old, tube. Tried it on Friday and I think it helped a bit. He also had said I could try some icy-hot gel instead if I didn t want to buy the prescription. What I ve begun to notice is that the pain is not very much during the day, but when I go to bed, as I just did about a half hour ago the pain gets real bad. I had taken an aspirin before bed , as I also had a headache (which is unusual for me). I don t take pain relievers very often at all due to being on warfarin. I just want to know what this is!! ...So that maybe I can get rid of it, if I just knew what to do!! I have an ice pack on it (upper arm) right now....that s the part that is so painful right now. I wonder if I should go to my regular doc tomorrow if I can get an appointment and give him a chance to try to figure it out. He wasn t in on Friday so I went to an associate there in the same office.
