What Are Recurring Tingling Sensation In Hands And Mild Heartburn Suggestive Of?

I m 61 years old, quick smoking 4 months ago but still somewhat out of shape. I m experiencing an odd feeling, with tingling in my hands and sort of like a very mild heartburn when I am getting exercise - especially in the heat. Happened a few times while walking rapidly and today while mowing the lawn in 90 degree temp. Any thoughts?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted your history of having tingling in hands, mild heartburn while exercising, quit smoking 4 months ago.
Heartburn is mostly due to a condition called GERD.
This is reflux of stomach contents into esophagus that cause burning sensation in chest.
The treatment is as follows:
Start a PPI like Omeprazole.
Domperidone needs prescription of your Doctor.
Take small frequent feeds.
Antacids to be taken when on empty stomach.
As for the tingling in hands the possible causes are:
Cervical spondilitis.
Carpal tunnel syndrome.
Hypothyroidism.
Neuropathy.
This can be diagnosed by clinical evaluation by your Doctor or Neurologist, relevant investigations and treatment as the need be.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
