What Are Side Effects Of Drinking Harpic Toilet Cleaner?

hi,My father mistakenly took about a teaspoon of harpic toilet cleaner,it has now been 24 hours and we gave him a medicine called sun-cee and also has been applying a gel prescribed by the doctor to prevent burning,My question that will there be any side effects or any future diseases ?

Harpic toilet cleaner contains Acid which can burn the tissues of throat food pipe ( oesophagus ), and stomach. Though the quantity taken by your father is very less , still it would be better to know whether any burn injury has happened or not .

For that he needs to get Upper gastrointestinal Endoscopy done .

If there is no burn injury there will not be any side effects or problems in future . But if there is burn injury in food pipe they may heal and while healing they shall narrow the lumen of food pipe causing constriction and difficulty is swallowing.

So kindly get the Endoscopy done .
