I have all the symptoms of strep except the white patches in back of throat. The soreness & swollen glands get extremely painful & other times it's just a little painful. It never goes completely away. My doctor has tried several things & referred me to an ENT dr.

As per your query you have swollen, painful glands in the neck . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query that problem related to wisdom tooth in case if you have an erupting or impacted wisdom tooth it can lead to swelling and in the area as well as swollen lymph nodes . The symptoms can also occur due to salivary gland swelling. You should consult an Oral surgeon and get evaluated and an X ray can help in confirming the cause . The symptoms can also occur due to tonsillitis due to upper respiratory track infection or lymphadenopathy. Consult ENT specialist for this .
