What Are Symptoms Of Paranoia, Bipolar Disorder And OCD?

I feel like I could have a mental disorder. I have quite a few physical ticks and I get thoughts from my brain, telling me to do something to make sure something else will be ok, and I m not satisfied until I do them. I also feel like being alone quite a lot, but enjoy being around certain people. I know online quizzes aren t always accurate but I have taken a few and some are suggesting things like paranoia, bipolar disorder or OCD and upon looking up some symptoms, I seem to have quite a few. I also don t have the nerve to tell my mum any of this Can you help?

Hello,

It would have been much better if you had mentioned your symptoms here, so that it could be assessed. However, few important symptoms of bipolar disorder & OCD are mild to extreme emotional highs, high irritability, low attention span, reduced sleep, loss of interest in any activity, etc. It should be clinically related.

Symptoms of paranoia are, not being able to trust people, getting easily offended, aggressive or hostile behavior, lack of pleasure, emotional flatness, etc. You are suggested not to take any medication by yourself. You should get clinically examined by a Counselor/Psychiatrist or a GP. You cannot depend on online quiz or tests. Try to lead a balanced, healthy life. Stay cheerful, avoid negative people or people who disturb you physically or emotionally.

Make new friends, take new projects. Stay active & keep yourself busy with positive things. Avoid addictions if any. Make your room comfortable, take adequate sleep. Spend time in shopping for yourself(your favorite food, books, music videos, etc). Give ample time to exercise & take care of your diet. There are many medicines but it will only give you temporary relied & help you manage your symptoms, there is no permanent cure. Try to treat yourself naturally. Do not focus on disease or illness but on a healthy lifestyle.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
