What Are The Advantages Of Pace Maker When Suffering From Congestive Heart Failure?
Hi, My Husband (35 years old) was diagnosed with congestive heart failure about 6 months ago. He didn t need any stints. He has been taking his medications and following all doctors orders. He has had a couple Ecocardiograms done. They say his heart is only Functional 19%. They want to put a pace maker in ASAP. He isn t sure he wants one. What are the pro s and Con s of having the pacemaker and would it extend his life expectancy? He does auto mechanics for a living. Would that affect the pacemaker at all?
Doctors decide to put pacemaker when long term or immediate survival of patient seems to compromised, it will keep heart beating at normal rate OR rate at which normal activities can be done. Yes, when it is absolutely essential it will extend life expectancy. If you keep your regular check up, then malfunction OR other severity will not come. If cardiologist suggested then one should opt for it as arrhythmia can dead to sudden death. He should learn meditation technique; in researches, it shows very good results in pacemaker patients.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Sunny Madar, General & Family Physician
