Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hello i am 18 years old and im pretty sure im perfectly healthy. i have smoked weed for the past 3 years and more frequently within the past 6-7 months. and in the past 7-8 weeks, my arm has started to have this numb week feeling after i smoke. it increases the more i smoke so iv smoked less so i dont have that feeling but even with one hit i still feel that tingly feeling. this has NEVER happened before! and sometimes my heart rate goes up a little bit and every once in a while i find it a little harder to breath. not too bad, i just have to take bigger breaths. im worried i may be in risk of heart attack. and im really scared and dont know what to do...
I can understand your concern. The symptoms you are describing indicate that smoking weed and being addicted to it has started taking its toll on your health. Weed has adverse effects on your physical health, nervous system and on the heart along with almost all the systems of the body.
The tingling and numbness you are describing are because of the effects of weed on the nervous system, As they have just started, you feel fine after the effects of weed wear off. However, if you won't stop, the feelings may become permanent and can lead to major complication such as stroke, cardiac arrest or seizures.
It does not seem to be too late to quit and the adverse effects can be reversed. You can rightly be sure then about your being perfectly healthy. You can take help of psychiatrist and rehabilitation centers that can help you with counselling and medications to control the withdrawal effects and make you quit for good.
I hope this information guides you well. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you decide to quit the habit soon.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
