what are the best meds for Bi-Polar 2 ? I have been on Lithium,Seroquel ,redperadol and have bad side effects such as diarrhea, stomach pains and mental confusions, It seems the medication that helps me is Lorazepam,I don't get bad side effects from it ans it helps me eat, it seems like most doctors are hesitant to proscribe it although it has been very helpful for me.

Hello
Welcome to HCM

Bipolar disorder is a serious disorder and commonly mood stabilizers are used for treatment. Low dose second generation anti-psychotic drugs are also used.
You have been prescribed Lithium and this is a mood stabilizer. This is a nice drug for mania but it has narrow therapeutic index and levels a little high than normal range result in toxicity. You are having diarrhea and this precipitates toxicity. The confusion you are having is most likely due to lithium toxicity only.
Seroquel and resperidal are antipsychotic drugs. Both provide effective control of mood symptoms and if used as per prescription are safe drugs.

Lorazepam is a benzodiazepine drug, it helps in sleeping but it is not a drug for bipolar disorder. It helps in sedation but this is not a mood stabilizer.

If you are having serious side effects then consult your psychiatrist for expert opinion.

Thanks
