What Are The Causes And Symptoms Of Mild Hepatomegaly?
My nephew, Mark, 8 yrs. old, had undergone ultrasound yesterday.. The liver is slightly enlarged measuring 12.7 cm. Impression: Mild hepatomegaly w/parencymal changes likely due to granulomatous process..What does it mean? At present, he is in the hospital. Thank you...
hi..there are numerous causes for granulomatous change in the liver..it means your immune system is fighting against an antigen in that area.it can be a result of either a local or systemic disease.main causes classified into infectious and non infectious..if fever is there, its likely to be due to infectious cause(tuberculosis,q fever, fungal infections like histo,etc)..ther non infectious causes like sarcoidosis, drug induced, should also be ruled out.since the hepatomegaly is mild,i guess you need not worry.but i will advise you to do all investigations your doc asks..please be more specific with symptoms and other details for a much better answer...hope it helps...
