What Are The Causes For The Birth Of Blue Baby, Which Cleared Then Followed With Heart Attack And Convulsions ?

My sisters grandson was born a little less than full term and weighed 5lb 6oz. He was blue when born but was ok once they cleared his airway. They cleaned him up and put him in a crib and brought him to his mother and she was feeding him and he relaxed. Thinking he fell asleep she put him back in the crib and looked over in a few min and he was purple. His heart had stopped but they brought him back. He then had serious convulsions over a 24 hr period and then went limp (like a rag doll) They found 2 tumors and bleeding in his brain. They could never get his heart rate over 40 and when they tried steroids he went into another heart attack. He is now on life support. He was born Dec 19 so he lived quite a while. We are puzzled as there is nothing like this in the family and the Dr. couldnt seem to find what he had or what caused it.

HI
Thank for asking to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, if the baby becomes blue after the birth then this is sign of cyanosis, means the blood have very less oxygen concentration, and this condition develops due to the congenital cardiac valvular disease, and the convulsion could be due to this, otherwise the convulsion is very less likely, (the condition called Fallot's tetralogy is likely) I would advise to have opinion from paediatric cardiologist, take care of kid, have nice day.
I find this answer helpful
