What Are The Causes Of Stomach Pain, Loss Of Weight And Loose Motion While Having Family History Of Stomach Cancer?
Hi I have seen my GP today have ache in stomach sometimes I feel food sticking have lost some weight and bowels quite loose have been through a very difficult 2 years with illness and death in family can you give me any advice my grandfather had stomach cancer long time ago
Hi, Thanks for posting your query. I am Dr.Ratnakar and I am pleased to assist you.
Stomach pain along with loss of weight and loose motion may indicate malabsorption syndrome. There are umpteen number of causes of malbsorption of which chronic pancreatitis, celiac disease, crohn's disease are significant causes. TB of the abdomen again can cause these symptoms.
Stool analysis, colonoscopy, upper GI endoscopy with small intestinal biopsy and a CT scan of the abdomen may be done for evaluation of your symptoms.
Stomach cancer usually do not present with this triad as loose motion is not a presenting symptom of stomach cancer.
I hope that answers your question. Regards, Dr.Ratnakar
