What Are The Causes & Remedy For Burping With White Foamy Liquid?

I am 9 and a half months pregnant and I keep burping up this white foamy liquid. It was only at night at first, but now it seems to happen all day. I have acid reflux, but I have never experienced this before. Is it anything to be concerned about? And is there anything I can do to help it?

You should see an OB/GYN doctor as soon as possible. White, frothy sputum is usually from fluid overload or fluid retention due to heart failure, kidney failure, or liver failure. In pregnancy, the main concern is preeclampsia. Preeclampsia is a disorder of pregnancy developing at the 20th week (or beyond), with new-onset hypertension (high blood pressure) and impaired organ function. It may progress from mild to life-threatening in hours to days. The disorder is reversible by delivery if at term or, if maternal/fetal health are in danger, by preterm delivery. Eclampsia is defined as new-onset grand mal seizure activity in a patient with preeclampsia without underlying neurologic disease.

Therefore, you should see our doctor to make sure you are not developing any organ dysfunction. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do at home. You can take your blood pressure, but you need routine screening blood work and urinalysis. The treatment is delivery of the baby. Some people will require magnesium therapy which is a seizure preventative medication, as well as anti-hypertensives.
