What Are The Chances Of Complete Recovery After Taking Chemo For Stage 4 Rectal Cancer?
my husband was diagnosed with stage 4 rectal cancer and the doctor said it is very aggresive he has been in chemo for about 9 months and it has decreased by about half in the liver which is the main concern because it was almost fully involved according to the pet scans...what are his chances to make a full recovery?
Thanks for your question on HCM. Rectal cancer when metastatize to liver is staged as end stage rectal cancer ( stage 4). So full recovery is not at all possible. Chemotherapy is givrn to reduce the tumour size and burden. It is not going to completely remove the tumour from the body. So chemotherapy will increase the life expectancy but it will not completely cure the patient from cancer.
