Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Are The Chances Of Contracting Infectious After Blowing Into The Breathalyzer?
My boyfriend was asked to blow into a girls breathalyzer at a gas station today. Apparently she had a separate tube that was connected to it. She told him it hadn t been used by her. And that she was not sick. I told him there is no telling who else she s had to blow into that tube. We have an 8 month old and I don t want him touching, kissing, sharing any drinks or food with either one of us now. What are the chances he caught a disease or virus or some type of infection from whoever blew into that tube?
By blowing into the tube he may get exposed to respiratory infection such viral or bacterial infections. The probability varies by the probability that the tube is contaminated. Better to avoid kissing your son for two weeks.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
