What Are The Chances Of Enlarged Prostate Being Cancerous?

Hi, my husband has just been to the Dr. and she said he has an enlarged prostate. She would like him to get a test for a picture of it to see if it is cancerous. Can you give me some more info on this condition and the chances of it being cancerous or not? Thank you.

Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
Most cases of enlarged prostrate are not cancerous. However testing should be done to rule-out possibility of cancer as if cancer is there it woulkd be difficult to treat in late stages.
Most common cause of enlarged prostrate ( over 90%) is Benign prostrate hyperplasia. It condition is very common in elderly males. Enlarged prostrate cause difficulty in urination, urinary retention like symptoms. Most cases can be dealed with lifestyle modification & severe cases require surgery.

Refer to your doctor

Hope this helps
