What Are The Chances Of Fetal Birth Defects In Subsequent Pregnancy?
i have a son (first child) who was born healthy and a daughter (second child) who was born with TGA, ASD, and VSD (which needed corrective surgery). these heart defects do not run in my family, doctors later said she was most likely born with these defects because i am a type 1 diabetic. ?y question is what are my odds of having another baby with these same defect?

There is 3 to 8 percent chance of heart defects in your new born bay.
Even with strict glucose control this chance cannot be reduced.
You can identify the defects early by doing ultrasound at 18 weeks of pregnancy and fetal ECHO.
