What Are The Chances Of Getting Pregnant While Being On Contraceptive Pills?

Hello, I need very prompt answer. I´m using contraceptive pills- Mercilon which is not available for purchase in US. (it consist of 150 Desogestrel and 20 Ethinylestradiol). And big problem occured today when I lost my last blaster of the pills. I´m 3 week of usage (5 more pills were left). I want to sto using pills anyway. Hoever I´m concerned what the risk of getting pregnant is. Would you recommmend me to buy pills available on US market with the same composition or should I stop Immediately ? My last sexual intercourse was 9 days ago. Thanks a lot, M.

Hi,

If you were regular on pills for all the 3 weeks &only 5 pills were lost. I feel, you should not worry. You will get withdrawal period within 8 days of taking last pill and then you start with fresh pack or fresh prescription of pills in case your pills are not available. I would suggest for use of barrier contraceptive till you get bleeding and start with new pack of pills. This is to be on safer side.
