hello i am using para guard now for 10months... lately i been getting soo tired sleppy, craving foods and getting dizzy a friend told me i can be pregnant but i dont think i am because of the paraguard.... can i gotten pregnant even with that?....also i usually get really itchy on my legs i get this pink lil bumps looks like a rash ans is soooo itchy then they disapear and come back? can i be allergic to the paraguard?
Hi, Welcome to Healthcare Magic. I am Dr Ramadevi Wani. I will be answering your concerns. Paraguard is more than 99% effective in preventing pregnancy. So the feeling tired, sleepy could be because of exertion too. Due to the method failure, there is a slim chance of pregnancy. So get a pregnancy test done. That will relieve you of all the worries.
Did the itchy rash on your legs start after Paraguard insertion? Are you prone to allergies?. There are reports of copper contained in the Paraguard causing allergy very occasionally. I suggest you consult dermatologist first. If there are no other reasons for the rash and if by allergy scratch test it is proven that you are allergic to copper, then you need to remove it.
I hope this is helpful. If you have further concerns, I will be happy to answer. Best wishes, Dr Rama
