What Are The Chances Of Inheriting Cadasil Syndrome In A Family From Father?
How does Cadasil work. I know it is in my husband's side of the family and it transfer from the mother, to the son, to the daughter. My husband died at the age of 53 from problems with his brain vessels turning very brittle at the age of 45 and he started having strokes and went from 220lbs 6'1 to 110 when he died. He was never diagnose because we did not have enough information about the family history at the time and he was the oldest. But since then his brother died last year at the age of 60 and his oldest daughter age 39 now the disease. What I want to know is we have one son and three granddaughters. Is there a chance that my granddaughter could get this disease? I have checked and it cost over $2,000 for a blood test and their is no cure and my son told me not to worry. But what I went through with my husband and brother-in-law is makes me nervous. Thanks
Cadasil syndrome is a cerebral autosomal-dominant hereditary disease and so far there is 50% chance that a child will inherit this mutation from a parent.
These are just theoretical facts, but you don't know for sure if your husband had this disease or if your son inherited it. For more detailed informations you should do this test.
