What Are The Chances Of Open Wounds Getting Infected?
Please help- I ve been cutting myself for a few weeks. The last time I did it was 2 days ago. I m afraid that these cuts might be infected- help me! Are they infected?! WWW.WWWW.WW
Hi, thanks for posting the concern in HCM. Firstly, you need to be careful enough for your own safety. You may have concentration problem, probably due to anxiety, depression or a mixed disorder or some gait problem. You should consult a neuropsychiatrist for the same. Secondly, please have a tetanus toxoid injection 0.5ml i m at the earliest. Thirdly, you can apply T-bact or Mupirocin ointment locally. If the area or region of injury becomes tense, swollen and warm or you have fever, you must consult your local surgeon to rule out soft tissue infection and sepsis. A complete blood count and CRP will be needed to find out the infection status and a wound swab C/S would help find out the offending microbial agent and the effective antibiotic. For more information, please write back. Regards, Dr. Kaushik Sarkar
