What Are The Chances Of Stress Fracture After A Intensive Walk?

I had a bimalleolar ankle fracture 2 years ago and had a plate and 6 screws placed. It appeared to heal well, but I have been working out pretty intensely and have developed severe pain to palpation above the site of the plate on the lateral aspect of my ankle. Is it possible to get a stress fracture at this site?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Yes it is possible.....this site of fracture is one of major weight bearing areas.
Even a slight malunion, or non alignment can cause many symptoms.
Investigation of choice for stress fracture is MRI ( if it is unilateral ie only on one side) or Bone scan ( if it is bilateral).
kindly consult your orthopaedician for further eveluation.
Take care.
