What Are The Chances Of Survival For A Child From A Surgery?

My brother just had a premature baby boy. He was about 6 months and 25 months. I was told that the mother had suffer form the stomache flu and then later on transfer the illness to her unborn baby. I don't know too much. I was later told today that the baby look develop like a human. However, his belly was so fill of fluids. Everytime, the doctors removed the fluids out,; it seems that the belly got bigger again. Now, I hear that the poor child is going to have surgery. The doctors says that because he is so young and his body is still not able to fight the virus back; they would need to perform surgery. I need to know if the surgery would be a success.

I would pray that it is a success, but there is no way for me to actually give you statistics or a guarantee of any kind, since you have provided sketchy details and the diagnosis is not clear. I think it might be better to speak to the child's surgeon before the surgery, and after it as well, since he/she would be the most qualified professional to answer your specific query.
