What Are The Chances Of Survival Of A Male With Dengue Having Platelet Count Of 5000 With Multiple Organ Failures?
Hi Doctor, I have an acquaintence who has dengue and is currently in ICU on ventilator. His platellete count was just about 5000 as of a couple of hours earlier and has multiple organ failures, Can you please advise on the chances of survival and how much he might take to return to normal routine?

Hi, platelet count reach to such a lower level in dengu. Its common problem with dengue. it will come back to normal.till that you can maintain on external platelet transfusion. However chances of survival is depends on how much damage occurs in key organ.multiorgan failure patient may goes in to coma or may die anytime. So chance are all depends on what kind of damages is thete.
