What Are The Chances That I Can Compete In My Championships As I Have Sprained My Knee?

Two weeks ago today, my daughter sprained her knee. She is in physical therapy and on crutches. Yesterday was the first day that she was able to put weight on the knee. She still needs her crutches to move around. She s a 10-year old gymnast. Her state championships are three weeks from today. What are the chances that she can compete?

Hello, and thank you for your question.
Unless your daughter's symptoms completely resolve within the next few days, I believe it is unlikely she should compete. The risk of re-injuring the knee would be greatly increased should she perform with an existing injury that has not healed.
Even though the state championships are important, it is not worth taking any unnecessary chances. That being said, hopefully she will have a remarkable recovery and be able to compete safely.
