Hello,

Your child was scratched by a cat and should receive anti rabies vaccine. There are 5 doses of vaccine which need to be given over a period of a month. If the cat is under observation and is fine after 10 days then your child need not receive the remaining doses. But you cannot take a risk of observing the cat first and then starting treatment. Rabies is a highly deadly disease and once a person is affected with it, there is no definitive cure.

Hope that helps.

Regards,

Preeti
