Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was stung on my pinky toe by ca brown scorpion a little over two weeks ago. I took an antihistamine right away. There was pain and swelling at the sight for a short time. I went to ER under duress, only to be sent home without treatment. I did see my pcp the next day because I have a history of auto immune response. He did not seemed concerned but told me to watch for signs of necrosis. Now I have a small itchy lump or blister at the sight. My husband is very concerned. I have not been able to find information on early signs of necrosis and was hoping you could help. I do not want to go back to the Dr if I do not need to. Please enlighten me to early signs of necrosis. Thank you in advance for your time.
Necrosis is death of the tissues. It would cause the area to appear dark or black (because dying off), there may also be signs of infection such as an odor or discharge.
The presence of the blister does not indicate that necrosis is present. It can occur as a result of the body's inflammatory response to trauma.
Continue to monitor, clean with a mild antiseptic and you can see your doctor if you note any concerning changes
I hope this helps
