What Are The Effects Of A Missed Birth Control Pill?
I am on altavera birth control pill, will be on birth control for almost a year in June. I had missed my Saturday pill in week one(thinking I took it) of my new pack and had unprotected sex that night, and also forgot to take my pill Sunday but I remembered to take my pill at 9-9:30 Sunday night and also saw I missed Saturday s pill so I took that with Sunday s pill, and took my Monday pill this morning on time, I usually take my pills at 8:48 am every morning. What are my chances that I would become pregnant from this mishap or would I have a very slim chance of becoming pregnant for doubling my dosage of my pill and taking Saturday s and Sunday s Sunday night.
You are supposed to take the contraceptive pills as instructed on the leaflet. Missing to take contraceptive pills will cause its efficacy to get reduced. Chances of you getting pregnant will increase. With regard to what missing pills can do to effectiveness, if you miss one pill, the hormones in blood are enough that when you take that pill late, or even the next day, you're not at increased risk for pregnancy.
If you miss two, you are now at risk. In such a circumstance you are advised to take a emergency contraceptive pill within 72 hours of unprotected sexual intercourse. Stay away from addictions if any for the best efficacy and always use condom. Contraceptive pills protect you from pregnancy not sexually transmitted diseases. In case you miss periods or are late, you are advised to get pregnancy test done with the first morning mid-stream urine.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
