What Are The Effects Of Smoking Hookah After Undergoing Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
I am month post-op after the gastric sleeve, and I am a social hookah smoker. But I haven t smoked since about 6-8 months before. I wanted to know what are the effects if I were to smoke now related to my surgery if any. (I don t wanna hear health effects, and how i shouldnt be smoking anyways I already know them, just surgery related)
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history of undergoing gastric sleeve surgery one month back, social hookah smoker but not smoked for the last 6-8 months. Knows that it should not be smoked and knows the health effects. Wants to know for sure only the effects related to surgery. Alright, since you want to know only the effects related to surgery they are as follows: Since you have undergone Gastric sleeve surgery, there is a lot of stomach that has been removed. The remaining part still has the acid producing cells. Hence smoking hookah can cause raised acidity and its effects like GERD, ulcer, increased hunger pains and so on as it would have caused before too. Secondly due to action of tobacco, there can be changed physiology of the already operated stomach as since it has been just a month you are post-op.
