What Are The Effects Of Taking Primolut-N During Early Pregnancy?

i have a history of delayed periods due to my over weight, right now when my periods delayed 20-23 above the LMP i went for a hcg blood serum test, it went negative, so my obs/gyne suggested me to take primolut-n twice daily for five days then stop and wait for periods to come, my question is that if im pregnant and during such condition took ten primolut-n, will it harm my baby??

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It is considered to be safe during early pregnancy. Primolut-N is a synthetic form of female hormone progesterone which actually supports an early pregnancy and reduces miscarriages and preterm delivery in high risk patients. There is no evidence that it causes any harmful effects on the growing unborn baby.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
