What Are The Effects Of Taking Medicines For High Blood Pressure Irregularly?

My husband has high blood pressure. He doesn't take his medicine on a regular basis. He will take it for a week consistently and then not take it for 2 weeks and then back on again. What are the side effects of doing this besides
Stroke? Could there be behavior and mood problems? Thanks I'm extremely concerned.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi High blood pressure needs continuous treatment and medicines should not be taken intermittently.Otherwise blood pressure will not come under control to desired level.High blood pressure is dangerous to Heart( myocardial infarction etc),nervous system(stroke),kidneys( renal failure ),eyes etc So it is advised to take them regularly. If you find any problem with the medication then you can discuss with your family physician and he will change the medicine or change the dose depending on his findings.
Hope this will clear your doubts .
