Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I ve been using tanning beds maybe twice a week for about 10 years, most of my adult life and today I was in the tanning bed for about 6 minutes and my skin began to get prickly and then I became so lightheaded that I had to sit down. Once sitting down the lightheadedness subsided a bit but not until I almost fainted. I dont take any medications as well. What happened? Could it be that I was just dehydrated?
I am so sorry to hear about these symptoms that you have reported. They are suggestive of low blood volume probably caused by dehydration during the tanning. 6minutes is enough time to loss significant volumes of water. Always drink enough before heading there. Repeated tanning is a risk factor for skin cancer.....
I wish you all well. Feel free to ask for more information if need be.
