What Are The Herbals Interact With Doxycycline?

I am looking to see if there is any herbal or prescribtion mess that would neg. interact with the antibioticDoxy-Cycline Momo 100 mg. that has been prescribed to me. I made me a cup of herbal tea for respiratory health with lemon and honey and wonder if it would be safe. Thank you very much.

Hello,

Herbs may interact with the antibiotic Doxycycline. Herbs may contain minerals like iron, calcium and zinc which may reduce the absorption of Doxycycline from the intestine if taken together.

Besides if milk is used in the preparation of the tea, it can also reduce the absorption of Doxycycline. In view of the above, it is therefore recommended that herbal tea with or without milk should not be taken along with Doxycycline at the same time.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
