Hello,
Galvusmet contains vidagliptin and
metformin. Side effects of both these drugs are as follows:
1) Headache, nasopharyngitis
2) Cough, constipation
3)
Dizziness, excess sweating
4) Increased blood pressure
5)
Diarrhea, vomiting, nausea
6)
Abdominal pain and distention
7) Upper respiratory infections
Galvus met is not known to cause any serious injury to internal organs and no cancer causing property observed. My recommendations are as follows:
1) Your blood sugar is stable because of galvusmet.
2) So, please inform the prescribing physician before you stop the medication.
3) You can stop it for a month and try with diet control and regular exercise. Diet must include high fibre content and very low sugars and fats. Exercise should be atleast for 30 min a day for 5 days a week.
4) If your blood sugars are stable even after 1 month, you may continue diet and exercise.
5) If your blood sugar goes up then you need to restart the medication.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
