Nexpro contains the active ingredient Esomeprazole, it is a proton pump inhibitor that is used to reduce the amount of acid produced by the stomach, to treat or prevent such conditions as heartburn, GERD, ulcers and gastritis.
Normally, they are used for short-term treatment, about 12 to 16 weeks, because there also can be problems if you do not produce enough stomach acid to properly digest your food. Though, if the conditions have no been rectified, they can be used for longer periods, but only if your doctor approves such continued usage.
Side effects may include: nausea, dizziness, stomach pain and flatulence
