Hello Although HIV can be isolated typically in the low titers from the SALIVA of a small proportion of the infected individuals , there is no convincing evidence that saliva can transmit HIV infection , either through kissing or oral sex. Saliva contains endogenous ANTIVIRAL FACTORS. So in your case there is very less chance of getting HIV infection by you. Antibodies to HIV begin to appear within 2 weeks of infection, and the period of time between initial infection and the development of detectable antibodies is rarely more than 3 months. p24 ( PCR ) nucleic acid amplification (rapid test) is most conclusive , sensitive and specific test for HIV infection confirmation.

Infectious Diseases Specialist, Dr. Arun's Response
Hello,
Thnx to contact us. I understand your concern.
If I am your treating doctor I advice you that there is a chance of getting HIV to you if the girl has HIV. If you can trace the girl again you can get tested her to know the status of her. If she is non reactive for HIV you do not have to worry. But if he is reactive than you have to start the post exposure prophylaxis and get your self tested after 28 days. I will be happy to answer more of your concerns, kindly know me, Wish you a very good health at health care magic. Dr. Arun Tank. Infectious Disease.
