What Are The Physical Symptoms Of Stress And Anxiety?
Dr., My 35 year old son is having trouble opening his eyes when he awakens in the night. At the same time he hears and feels a "whoosing sound in his head. He is under some stress and works about 60 hours a week. Could it be fatique/stress? I just spoke to him and he is at work and feels the droopy eye lid feeling , though is functioning work wise.
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. You son is 35 years old and have trouble in sleeping. This is associated multiple awakening in night, feeling of whoosing like sound in night. Most likely the reason for his symptoms is anxiety and this is resulting in sleep problems and insomnia. Insomnia is further potentiating the problem of anxiety. He is under some work stress which could also become an aggravating factor.
Try to talk to him and relax him. Try to find if any problem he is facing at work and if possible help him in resolving that problem. If problem of sleep further worsens then visit a psychiatrist for help. For short term medicines like low dose benzodiazepines can be used for sleep. These medicines would result in reduction of anxiety and he would sleep better. Give the drugs under proper prescription only.
Thanks, Hope this helps you. Take care
