What Are The Red Dry Patches On My Daughter's Body?
My 6 year old daughter has round red dry patches spread out on her body. They seem to be getting bigger and more of them. I have been using prescription strength hydrocortizone cream on them with no resultssge says they hurt and itch..what could it be?
Pityriasis Rosea commonly presents as oval to round scaly patches arranged in a christmus tree pattern on the trunk and chest (along the rib lines). The patches are variably itchy.
Discoid eczema on the other hand presents with itching, scaling, sometimes with oozing and crusting (due to scratching and secondary bacterial infection) distributed over the extensors of extremities.
Since you said that the lesions are itchy and hurt, therefore there is a possibility of secondary bacterial infection. I would suggest a course of an oral antibiotic for a week

What Are The Red Dry Patches On My Daughter's Body?
Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic I would keep a possibility of either Pityriasis Rosea OR Discoid dermatitis. I would suggest a course of an oral antibiotic for a week Use a moisturizer, twice daily. A moderately potent steroid e.g Fluticasone propionate OR Mometasone furoate, would be more effective than hydrocortisone. regards
