Hi doctor, My periods are delayed by a week. I am not pregnant. This is the first time it has happened. Usually its regular and comes on either 27 or 28 th day. last few months My periods came on 30th day or 31 or 32nd day. i take synthroid 75mg for thyroid and a multivitamin tablet daily. Recently did a thyroid check up and found my free t4 level is 1.8 thats the max limit. could that be the reason? I am a bit tensed as I am travelling to India for a function at temple in 2 weeks and I was thinking my periods will be regular as usual. Could you please advise me what needs to be done to get my period immediately?. I did try my mother's remedy of sesame seeds laddoo for 2 days. But still no periods. What should I do?
Delayed period upto 7 days is compeltely normal and nothing to be worried about. However, if you notice persistent irregularities in yoir menstrual cycle, it is recommended to undergo thyroid function test and see if dose adjustment of Synthyroid is needed.
