What Are The Repercussions Of Accidental Ingestion Of Chalk In An Infant?

Two year old had some chalk in his mouth and on his shirt when picked up from day care today. Seems fine - was colored sidewalk chalk but not sure how much he ingested. He ate well, is not coughing, is happy and playful. Anything else we should do?? Thank you.

Hello, I just read through your query.
Accidental ingestion of chalk which is used for colouring and drawing is minimally toxic if small amount is minimally ingested.
Chalk contains calcium salts.Chalk is considered to be non-toxic in small ingestions. Chalk can be a choking hazard.
There are usually no symptoms if ingested in small amounts.However if your child has any unusual symptom then please visit the nearest poison centre.
What you should do is give your child small sips of water.
and wait and watch for any new unusual symptom if at all.
