What Are The Repercussions Of Ingestion Of Nurofen Meltlets Tablets By Child?

I accidentally gave my daughter a nurofen meltlet (200mg) ( thinking it was her multivitamin) realised straight away and told her to spit out. Got her to gargle and spit bits out as well. Just worried as its a meltlet how quickly s big may have absorbed on her tongue and if it s cause for concern?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The main likely risk is gastritis due to inflammation of the stomach. Other possible side effects do not occur as often.

The use of food to coat the stomach lining would be helpful.

If she does experience an episode of reflux, it should be temporary. Treatment is only necessary if the reflux is severe, in that case the use of children's pepcid or zantac may help

I hope this helps
