What Are The Repercussions Of Missing A Dosage Of Atorvastatin?

Hi. I take Atorvastatin 20 mg and since I am a diabetic and take several meds I keep my meds in a weekly holder so I don t forget to take them. I actually did forget to take the atorvastatin tonight and was afraid to take another one since I wasn t sure I took the one that wasn t in my holder. My question is, is it safer to take another one or not. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Atorvastatin is a lipid-lowering drug. It does cause no problem if it is missed once.

Similarly, its Maximum dose is 80 mg, as you are taking only 20 mg, so taking another (40mg) won't cause any big issue.

Though care should be taken regarding the use of drugs.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
