What Are The Risks Involved During Pregnancy Of Women Suffering With Thrombocytopenia?

Hi, i found out I have thrombocytopenia when I was 19. And had bruises and nosebleed every now and then. But it was at age 22 when I got pregnant and found out it is something more serious then what I new it was. I couldn t get the epidural and was taking steroids during pregnancy to keep it normal count. Now I would like to have another child, will I have same labor? What other risks is there?

Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, it seems like your condition is due to ITP and chances of recurrence in second pregnancy also can be likely. Steroid pulse may be required in the second pregnancy as well.

Also invasive procedures can be associated with risks of bleeding so hematologist review should be sought regularly.
