What Are The Risks Of Accidentally Ingesting A Fish Bone?
Hi, doctor. I was eating some food made of fish my mother cooked for me today, and while I was chewing, I think I got a fishbone stuck in gums. The pain hasn't subsided yet, and I still can't pull it out. Any suggestions? I don't want to get an infection
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain if you have got fishbone stuck in your gums then there is a possibility that it ha gone deep into the gum crevice leading to inflammation and pain in the area..
It can very much cause infection as it will cause bacterial proliferation around it and also there will be inflammation as it will act as a foreign body.. There can be abscess formation or gum boil formation due to infection..
I would suggest you to consult a Dentist and get evaluated and he can do a deep scaling of the gums so that any piece of bone can be removed to prevent infection..
As of now if there is pain you can apply numbing gel containing Lignocaine.. Take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen.. Do warm saline gargles..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
