Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I just read a story regarding a lady who took Cipro for a UTI, and now has had serious tendon, ligament, bones issues that required multiple surgeries. She notes that Cipro has a black-box warning. I am now concerned because I too took Cipro for a UTI because I thought I had significant reactions from Macrobid. Do I need to be concerned??? Thanks! Mary Ann
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Ciprofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. It is used to treat different types of bacterial infections in the body. More common side effect encountered with intake of Ciprofloxacin is: Diarrhea. Some of the side effects that can occur with ciprofloxacin may not need medical attention. Kindly complete the course of antibiotics as prescribed for your condition. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best. Regards, Dr.Ashakiran.S. MBBS., MD.
